How you can know Jesus and receive eternal life:
1. We, by nature, are estranged from God.
Romans 6:23 (NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
2. But God has given us a way to come to him.
Romans 3:22-24 (NIV) This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all
who believe. There is no difference, [23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
[24] and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:6-8 (NIV) You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died
for the ungodly. [7] Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man
someone might possibly dare to die. [8] But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
3. Recognizing your sin enables the Lord to forgive
1 John 1:9 (NIV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness.
4. Ask Jesus to come into your life
Romans 10:9-10 (NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart
that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 8:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
Jesus, [2] because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of
sin and death.
5. Now, live for him and with him
Romans 8:16-17 (NIV) The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
[17] Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed
we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, [39] neither height nor depth, nor
anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your
bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. [2] Do
not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and
perfect will.
Ephes. 2:8-10 (NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God-- [9] not by works, so that no one can boast. [10] For we are
God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in
advance for us to do.
